“The clairs” is a modern umbrella term for different styles of intuition – essentially the ways people naturally perceive, sense, or interpret information beyond ordinary thinking. It’s not supernatural; it’s a psychological–spiritual vocabulary for describing how your intuition works.
What “The Clairs” Are
They’re simply categories of intuitive perception:
- claircognizance → intuitive knowing
- clairvoyance → intuitive seeing
- clairsentience → intuitive feeling
- clairaudience → intuitive hearing
- clairalience → intuitive smelling
- clairgustance → intuitive tasting
- clairtangency → intuitive touching
Most people have 1–2 dominant clairs, and the rest show up subtly.
They’re not magical – they’re pattern-recognition, emotional intelligence, and subconscious processing expressed through different sensory metaphors.
The Seven Clairs
1. Claircognizance – “Clear Knowing”
You just know something without knowing how.
Shows up as:
- instant insight
- strong gut decisions
- pattern recognition
- rapid clarity
- “I can’t explain it, but I know this is true”
2. Clairvoyance – “Clear Seeing”
Intuition through imagery or visual symbolism.
Shows up as:
- mental pictures
- symbolic visions
- strong imagination
- visual flashes during meditation
- seeing patterns or trajectories
3. Clairsentience – “Clear Feeling”
Intuition through emotion or physical sensation.
Shows up as:
- sensing people’s moods instantly
- feeling tension in your body around misalignment
- emotional resonance
- “something feels off”
- somatic intuition
4. Clairaudience – “Clear Hearing”
Intuition through inner words, phrases, or tones.
Shows up as:
- hearing your inner voice clearly
- intuitive phrases popping into your mind
- strong internal guidance
- hearing tone or truth in someone’s voice
5. Clairalience – “Clear Smelling”
Intuition through scent.
Shows up as:
- smelling something that triggers memory or insight
- scent-linked intuition
- emotional recall through smell
This one is rare and usually subtle.
6. Clairgustance – “Clear Tasting”
Intuition through taste.
Shows up as:
- sudden taste linked to memory or emotion
- symbolic taste experiences
- intuitive associations with flavour
Also rare.
7. Clairtangency – “Clear Touch”
Intuition through touch or physical contact.
Shows up as:
- sensing energy in objects
- intuitive impressions from physical spaces
- strong tactile awareness
- somatic memory
This overlaps with somatics and shamanic grounding.
