    Shamanism

Shamanism is one of the oldest spiritual technologies on Earth – a system of healing, insight, and connection that predates organised religion by tens of thousands of years. At its core, it’s about direct relationship with the unseen world, personal empowerment, and restoring wholeness. It’s not a belief system; it’s a practice.

    What Shamanism Actually Is

Shamanism is a global, ancient spiritual practice found in cultures across Siberia, Mongolia, the Americas, Africa, Australia, and Europe. Despite cultural differences, the core principles are remarkably consistent.

    Core definition:

A shaman is someone who can shift consciousness to interact with the spiritual or energetic realms for healing, guidance, and restoration.

    Key functions of shamanism:

    • Healing trauma or fragmentation
    • Retrieving lost parts of the self
    • Communicating with guides, ancestors, or helping spirits
    • Clearing energetic patterns
    • Understanding soul contracts and life lessons
    • Restoring balance between mind, body, spirit, and environment

    It’s experiential, not dogmatic.

    The Three Worlds in Shamanism

Most shamanic traditions describe reality in three layers:

    1. Upper World

Guides, teachers, ancestors, higher wisdom, soul contracts.

    2. Middle World

Everyday life, human relationships, physical reality.

    3. Lower World

Instinct, power, grounding, soul fragments, animal guides.

Soul retrieval typically happens in the Lower World. Soul contract work often happens in the Upper World.

    Core Concepts in Shamanism

These align strongly with the themes you’ve been exploring.

    1. Soul Loss

When trauma, pressure, or emotional overwhelm occurs, parts of the soul step away for protection.

    2. Soul Retrieval

The shaman journeys to retrieve those lost parts and reintegrate them.

    3. Power Retrieval

Reclaiming personal power, confidence, or vitality that has been drained or taken.

    4. Extraction

Removing energetic intrusions – old patterns, attachments, or emotional debris.

    5. Soul Contracts & Destiny

Understanding the agreements your soul made before incarnation.

    6. Initiation

Life events that push you into a new identity or purpose.
